फरीदकोट-बठिंडा नेशनल हाइवे 54 हाइवे अथॉरिटी की उदासीनता का दंश झेल रहा है। हाईवे के बीच फुटपाथ पर हरियाली के लिए लगाए गए सैकड़ों पौधे पानी के अभाव में सूख रहे हैं और रोशनी के लिए लगाई गई लाइटें भी बंद हैं। जानकारी के मुताबिक, राजस्थान से जम्मू जाने वाला यह राष्ट्रीय मार्ग फरीदकोट से होकर गुजरता है और आगे अमृतसर तक जाता है।

इस हाइवे पर सैकड़ों पौधे लगाए गए हैं, लेकिन पिछले कई महीनों से किसी ने उन्हें पानी नहीं दिया है, जिसके कारण पौधे सूख गए हैं और घास भी सूख गई है। हाइवे पर जूस का काम करने वाले दर्शन सिंह ने कहा कि उन्होंने कभी किसी को यहां पौधों की सफाई या पानी देते नहीं देखा है। उन्होंने कहा कि यहां लगी लाइटें कभी भी रात में नहीं जलती हैं और उनके कनेक्शन भी टूटे हुए हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि हाइवे पर 6.6 फीट ऊंची झाडिय़ां हैं, उन्होंने कहा कि सफाई के लिए भेजे गए कर्मचारी इस हाईवे पर गावों की तरफ नहीं पहुंचते हैं। इस संबंध में बीएंडआर विभाग के अधिकारियों से बात की गई, तो उन्होंने कहा कि हाइवे की हालत के बारे में उन्होंने हाइवे अथॉरिटी को लिखित पत्र भेजा है।
